July 1, 2013–There’s a new “f” word and its one that can definitely be used in polite company. The word is friend and its part of a new anti-bullying initiative called Friend Movement. Tonight, country superstar LeAnn Rimes showed what a good friend she can be when she headlined the Friend Movement Benefit Concert at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. Joico sponsored the concert and Joico Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas was on hand to style her hair before the show.
The hot, summer, California night called for a tousled, easy-going style, complementing her white, sleeveless sundress and black peep-toe heels. George reports that LeAnn requested sexy beach waves, which he achieved by first applying Joico JoiWhip Firm Hold Design Foam to her damp hair. He then dried her strands completely with an oval styling brush, and used a round brush to curve and shape her bangs. Then he divided her hair into vertical sections and twirled each one around a 1 ½-inch curling iron, clipping each curl in place until her hair cooled completely. He misted Joico Texture Boost Dry Spray Wax on his fingertips and pinched the ends of each section of hair to create texture and control. When you have finer hair its essential to use a foam to add some volume and control, while the texturizing spray gives the added texture for that perfect beachy look, just right for her hair type, said George. A final spray of Joico Power Spray Fast Dry Finishing Spray ensured all-night holdthrough the concert and into the after party!
Radiant on stage, Rimes sang 4 songs, which included new track “Who We Really Are,” as well as “Spitfire,” “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,” and a cover of “Rocket Man.” The concert also featured recording artists Dia Frampton (The Voice), Frenchie Davis (American Idol) and Michel Jacksons nephew Austin Brown, Richard Simmons, Days of Our Lives star Camila Banus, the Push Girls cast and many more. Rimes, who has been the subject of eating disorder accusations, looked full-figured and glowing as she posed with her husband Eddie Cibrian on the red carpet before the concert and at the after party.
Friend Movement was created to help show positive anti-bully images through art and media, using images of people of all ages, race, gender, sexuality, and spirituality that invoke inspiration and conversation. It inspires people to prevent bullying by enabling them to be a better friend. For more information, visit www.friendmovement.com.
