Arcadia, CA On Thursday, May 16,2013 the staff of Joico eagerly welcomed Jean-Philippe JP Charrier, recently named Chief Officer, Professional Operations Division, Shiseido, Ltd., their parent company. Mr.Charrier who officially took over earlier this year for his predecessor Mr. Kozo Hanada (now President of Shiseido Professional Inc. in Japan) had been traveling extensively since then. With the warm and sunny weather that greeted him on his visit to Southern California, he jokingly lamented having to leave after only one day.
Joining Mr.Charrier were Mr. Seiji Sato, Sr. Mgr., Professional Business Operations Division, and Ms. Tomoko Shiomi, Liaison Mgr. of Professional Business Operations Division also arriving from Shiseido headquarters in Japan, as well as Ron Krassin, CEO and Toshi Komatsu, EVP Corporate Planning, for Zotos International, Inc., headquartered in Darien, CT.
Sara Jones, Sr. VP and GM for Joico/ISO/Minardi welcomed them all, introducing Krassin who addressed the audience briefly before handing the floor over to Mr.Charrier. After recognizing Joico for their unprecedented growth over recent years, Mr.Charrier shared his vision; anchored upon making the salon professional and the salon business, first and foremost among all priorities. He knew everyone at Joico shares the same commitment to the professional hairdresser and their salons and that the dedication to providing the best products for them should remain unwavering.
He spoke of the long Shiseido tradition to educate hair designers, and of the technologically innovative heritage that continues in the highly successful Shiseido Professional brand along with its subsidiary companies, Joico, and Zotos Professional, and of course its larger beauty group, which among Shiseido also includes Carita, and Decléor.
Expressing a clear strategy to represent the leading edge of beauty within Shiseido Group he also spoke about being a source for inspiration and creativity, while continuing to be a leader in haircare innovations. Something the Joico division has firmly set within its roots and philosophy as a company and brand. With its history in first introducing the revolution of human hair keratin protein, to the latest and most impressive innovation to date, taking DNA science and identifying the actual peptide chain directly governing damage to hair, Joico was able to develop a physical ingredient (Bio-Advanced Peptide Complex) now found in all of its retail products from shampoos and treatments down to its styling products. This latest of historic breakthroughs, revolutionary at its core (with effects that last up to 25 shampoos) also represents the care Joico takes in producing truly amazing products in its commitment to the professional and the clients they service, and thus falls right in line with Mr.Charriers own vision and commitment.
When addressing the audience, Mr.Charriers message that products should focus on answering the needs of the hairdresser, certainly rang true for the Joico group and bolstered the sense in the room that the path Joico has walked thus far fell in line with the overall Shiseido vision, along with their commitment to the hairdressing professional and the industry. In one of his many comments that day, Mr.Charrier remarked on the large values wall upon entering the lobby for the Joico offices, and expressed that the words there could literally be lifted and taken for Shiseido itself, once again noting how aligned the people of Joico were with the overarching vision for the greater Shiseido empire.
Present were all of Joico staff located in its Southern California headquarters, including Edie Williams, VP Distributor Sales, for Joico/ISO/Minardi, U.S., and joined by other international heads for the special visit: Mike Miller VP, Joico/ISO Canada, Eric Kater GM, Joico Europe, Gaby Abel Marketing Dir., Joico Europe, Colinda van Rossum Marketing Mgr., Joico Europe, and Missie Madeja Dir. Int’l Sales, Joico/ISO/Senscience, Pacific Rim, Oceania and U.K.
